What is Chello Grill?

Chello Grill is a new concept for a restaurant that we had because we wanted to bring delicious, fresh Mediterranean cuisine to our customers, quickly. Chello actually means rice in Farsi, but the star of our menu is the kabobs. You choose your kabob and we grill it over an open flame fresh for your order. Our meal combos start at only $9.99, and we have plenty of family meal deals available as well.

Why did you choose this business?

I am one of the founders of Pizza 9, but I have been in the restaurant business over 30 years. I chose to be in the restaurant business because I have a passion for food and making people happy. Good food makes people happy and brings them together. We decided to open Chello Grill because we wanted to the community to have an authentic experience with Mediterranean and Persian cuisine.

What is your business philosophy?

"Be so good they can't ignore you." - Steve Martin

Why did you choose to do business in Albuquerque?

We love Albuquerque! We live here and are very involved in the community here. Not to mention that is such a great place for food! We wanted to be able to share a part of our culture and cuisine with the city by opening up this unique concept and serving up some traditional and authentic dishes.

What do you offer that the competition doesn't?

We have a diverse menu, and fresh, quality ingredients. We also offer delivery to our nearby area and we have some of the friendliest and most helpful staff around.

What contributions to the community (charitable or otherwise) are you most proud of?

We take a lot of pride in our community involvement. We try to host fundraisers regularly. So far we have been able to raise money for UNM Children's Hospital, Folds of Honor (a charity that provides scholarships for children of those killed or wounded while serving), and a relief fund and supplies drive for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. We do these fundraisers and events because we see ourselves as an outlet in which people can show their support. Sometimes it is hard to find a way to help, but we feel that it is our responsibility to make a good impact on the world around us.

How has the Internet affected your business and how do you think it might affect your business in the future?

The internet has affected Chello Grill in many ways, but one specific aspect is the power of social media. Through social media, Chello Grill can better connect with the community and our customers whether it may be by responding to questions/reviews, supporting worthy causes such as Hurricane Harvey relief, promoting special deals/offers, or always being easy to reach. As the internet and technology continue to evolve I believe in the future Chello Grill will be able to have a wider reach in the community, and continue to thrive.

What do you look for in prospective employees?

A few of the top things we look for in a prospective employee are optimism, determination, great business and moral ethics, and the ability to quickly learn and evolve.

What is your or your company's greatest asset?

Our customers are our greatest asset. Thank you to everyone that has come in these last few months to give us a try!
