We’ll be 3 years old on March 16th! I’m amazed at how time has flown and how the store has changed. How has the store changed in the last 3 years? We have built a good reputation for carrying more Mid Century Modern furniture and decor than when we first opened. We look for mid-range pieces as well as top-notch designer items. MCM is not just a trend, but has become a classic lifestyle here. Of course, we still carry plenty of antiques, vintage, rustics and some really neat custom handcrafted pieces! In what ways has SOLE stayed the same? We love to get our hands on great old pieces and restore them. Older, solid wood furniture was built to last—not just tossed when a joint comes unglued or the upholstery is worn. Keeping them out of the landfills and providing them a new life is such a joy, and it’s so rewarding to see them adopted! This hasn’t been an easy time for small businesses. What’s kept you going? Times are tough for everyone, and we take that into consideration when we acquire our inventory so we can price it fair. We concentrate on having unique items in a variety of styles and eras that you can’t find anywhere else. There truly is something for everyone at SOLE. Quality and unique inventory is certainly important. Is there anything else you feel is crucial? Upbeat and personal customer service is our top priority. We get to know our customers and know many of them by name. I love it when our new friends just come by to say “Hi!” We make it easy with great prices, free layaway and inexpensive or free delivery. Oh, and even though we are in Nob Hill, we have free and easy door-to-door parking! What is your favorite quote from a customer?
