We have a lot to offer. We teach meditations that are proven methods to develop peaceful states of mind and tools to solve our daily problems. We offer classes (for kids too!), retreats, a peaceful environment, and a welcoming community. Are Buddha’s teachings relevant to modern people? Definitely. If we check, throughout history human beings have sought to improve their external situation, yet despite all our efforts we are no happier. Our unbridled pursuit of happiness from external sources is resulting in our planet being destroyed and our lives becoming more complicated and dissatisfying. It is time we sought happiness from a different source. So, where does happiness come from? Well, if our mind is peaceful we are happy. If our mind is unpeaceful we can never be truly happy, no matter how hard we try to change our external conditions. This shows us that the source of happiness is a peaceful mind. How can meditation benefit me? There are so many benefits it is impossible to list them all. But, basically, meditation is very important because everyone needs to cultivate peaceful states of mind. If our mind is peaceful we are free from anxiety, stress, anger, depression, and unhappiness. Do I have to be Buddhist to meditate? No, everyone benefits from meditation. It is simply an effective method to experience inner peace. Great places to start: Sunday morning (10 – 11:30 a.m.) Prayers for World Peace and Dharma for Kids , Thursday evening class (7 – 8:30 p.m.), and Wednesday & Friday Meditation for Beginners (noon – 1 p.m.).
