So what is Design by Wine?
Design by Wine is the name of our "Sip and Paint" studio, where you can take a fun, relaxed, light-hearted painting class, enjoy a glass of wine, socialize and have fun. At the end of class, you leave with your own unique creation in hand!
So, what is a typical class like?
The experience for a person at a typical class would include coming in and drinking a glass of our premium New Mexican wine, socializing with friends, and enjoying good music, while we lead you, step-by-step, through the process of completing your own colorful yet uncomplicated acrylic 16"X20" painting. Regardless of whether or not this is your first or 50th painting, everyone leaves with a canvas in hand feeling like an artist!
What is your business philosophy?
Our philosophy is that art should be accessible and inclusive; that everyone should be provided an opportunity to explore their creative side. We also like being able to emphasize community. In a time when we are all going 100 mph in different directions, our Design by Wine classes offer a nice chance to relax, regroup, enjoy time with friends and even make some new ones.
What is your or your company's greatest asset?
Our greatest assets are our welcoming staff and our colorful, artful, cool-urban warehouse space, that is conveniently located.
How often do you hold classes and how long do they usually last?
We have regularly scheduled bi-weekly classes now and will be adding a lot more classes to our schedule soon. Be sure to check out the calendar on our website! A typical class lasts two to two and a half hours. We keep a very relaxed, low-pressure pace with lots of breaks to socialize and shop.
How many people can you accommodate?
A typical class right now has 20-30 participants, but we can also accommodate large groups (up to 50+ people). This really is the perfect venue for a company team-building experience, showers, etc.
What contributions to the community (charitable or otherwise) are you most proud of?
We just finished creating room plaques for the Barrett House women and children's shelter. We are really proud of them. With the addition of our painting classes, we also plan on holding fund-raisers for non-profits, where a portion of our proceeds will go to the charities.
How do most people sign up for a class?
Most people opt to register online. Our Designbywine.com site is extremely easy to navigate and an awesome tool. People can click on the calendar, pick which painting they would like to paint and register on the spot. We take reservations over the phone, too!
Why is this business a good fit for Kelly Jo Designs studio?
One of the favorite aspects of my job as designer/artist at Kelly Jo Designs has been teaching my fellow artist-employees to paint. Now, we have a terrific opportunity to open our doors to the public and help everyone get in touch with their own creativity in a very laid-back, festive atmosphere.
