Who are you?
The PC Place is a local family-owned and operated computer sales and repair store. We buy and sell all brands of new and used PCs and MACs. We service home and business computers at our location or yours. We offer fast solutions to any computer problem that walks through our door; it doesn't matter how new or old. We should be the first place you call when you need technical help. Hardware and software are changing so fast. We repair anything on laptops (LCD replacements, DC jack replacement, keyboards, etc.). We replace new capacitors on motherboards, which saves the customer from having to buy a new computer and start all over. We have the quickest turnaround in town; usually most repairs are done in 24 hours or less. We offer free consultation, estimates and quote flat rates for most of our work. We are experienced and proficient in the removal of malware, spyware and viruses. Hard drive data recovery is another service that we offer; from baby pictures to books being written, we have saved people's precious work. We also offer free electronic recycling.
How did you get started in this business?
The PC Place has been around since 1993 when the late founder, Mr. Gerry Manning (a COBOL programmer) and his wife, Anne Manning, took a gamble on purchasing a huge inventory from a warehouse closing in California. At that time, computer parts like memory, hard drives, video cards, and motherboards were near impossible to find in Albuquerque. In no time at all, Mr. Manning doubled his money and realized he had a business he could grow. The PC Place continues to grow every year. In February 2012, three long-time employees took ownership of the company after the passing of Mr. Gerry Manning. The new owners have 45 years of combined experience with The PC Place. Before working with computers, Stephen Armijo (President) served 6 years in the U.S. Navy. Charles Armijo (VP) joined his brother right out of high school, ready to work hard. Jesse Curry (VP) received his Bachelor of Business Administration from UNM.
What is your or your company's greatest asset?
Our greatest asset is the people that work here ... so we are told day after day. A large part of our job is working one on one with our customers and we enjoy it. When you call, you will immediately speak with someone knowledgeable and ready to help.
What motivates you to succeed besides the desire to make money?
Purpose. The feeling that we can make a difference in our community motivates us. Our customers need us, and we need them. We love to help anyone that gives us a chance.
What do you offer that the competition doesn't?
We offer great personalized customer service that’s hard to find and experience that no one can catch up to.
How has the Internet affected your business, and how do you think it might affect your business in the future?
We can always offer something to our customers that an Internet competitor can’t. We can offer a real handshake and a genuine “Thank You.” Call us old-fashioned, but we think it’s simply safer, smarter and more comfortable to do business with a business you can trust locally.
Do you have a hero or mentor—business or otherwise?
Our mentors are those that start with nothing and make it something. It’s not what you do but how you do it. We all grew up with strong values that we will never forget.
What is your mission statement?
Our mission is to sell, service and upgrade high quality computer equipment at reasonable prices. In addition, this company intends to maintain a superior and well-trained team of committed individuals with a positive and caring attitude. This group will utilize their creative ingenuity to solve problems and provide efficient solutions, while establishing and maintaining lasting relationships with our customers. With this combination, we believe we can provide quality products and services that the customer cannot get anywhere else.
Why should people come to your store for all their computer needs?
Trust is the foundation of our long-lasting relationships with everyone. People rely on their computers for almost everything. Based on good experiences over the years, people know they can trust The PC Place. On a recent Yelp review, a customer we helped said "They pass the MOTHER test ... It is a rare instance that I am impressed by a personal computer store. My mother lives in NE Heights, and like most 80 year old women, she has a difficult time with technology. I help her when I can, but I feel totally comfortable sending her to these guys. I trust them with my mother's computer. If that isn't an endorsement, I don't know what to say ... "
