Why did you choose this business?
Our family has years of experience in this field. We wanted a new project where we could all work together and grow something to be proud of.
What is your business philosophy?
We believe that if you provide great food and great customer service, you will always have a loyal customer base. We want our name to be known for taking care of our customers and providing a great meal and dining experience.
What is your or your company's greatest asset?
Our greatest asset is the people we have working for us. Chips & Salsa is family owned and operated from the kitchen to the waitstaff. We also employ some fantastic non-family members who have become like family to us. We all contribute to our restaurant's success.
What are your strongest business traits?
I take customer satisfaction very seriously. I put my customers first, and I think that is the most important thing in our business.
Why did you choose to do business in Albuquerque?
I have been in Albuquerque for over 35 years. My family and my husband's family have made New Mexico our home, and we would not want to live anywhere else. We love it here.
What motivates you to succeed besides the desire to make money?
My family and I have a strong desire to be successful in all of our projects. We do not believe in giving up on something because it is difficult. We take pride in our work.
What significant changes have you implemented recently?
We have worked to make sure our staff is right for this business and that each person working for us takes pride in their job and wants to grow with us.
What successes in the past year are you most proud of accomplishing?
My family and I are happy with all that we have accomplished with Chips & Salsa and with so many other things in the past. I know we can accomplish anything that we put our minds to.
What do you offer that the competition doesn't?
We have experienced staff who take pride in taking care of our customers. We use our favorite family recipes and believe our food is the best in town. We also have a variety of excellent salsas to choose from.
How do you maintain your competitive edge?
We make sure our food tastes as close as possible to Mom's, that our prices are reasonable and that our customer satisfaction is excellent.
What was your best business decision?
To open this restaurant that we love so much and to try to make it a household name
What are your growth goals?
One day we hope to be able to expand and take this restaurant to the national level.
How has the Internet affected your business, and how do you think it might affect your business in the future?
We want to utilize the Internet more. We are about to launch our new website and believe that will be an asset to our company. We also have a Facebook page and will be using that more in the future, as well.
If you had to choose another career or start another business, what would it be?
I am so happy with what we have and can't imagine not being in the restaurant business. It is the perfect career for me.
What words of wisdom would you offer to someone starting their own business?
Do something you are good at and that you love, and the rest will come.
What's your favorite saying or quotation?
There is a scripture that I really like in the Bible. It says, “Go to the ant, you lazy one: See its ways and become wise."
If you had a chance to live anyone else's life, whose life would it be?
I don't ever think that I would choose to live anyone else's life. I am who I am, and I am very grateful to God for that.
If there is one thing about Albuquerque or New Mexico that you could change, what would it be?
I love it here. There are always things that could be changed, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. This is my home.
What do you look for in prospective employees?
We want employees that present themselves well, take pride in their jobs and want to be part of a really great team.
What inspires you?
My faith, my husband, and my three sons are my biggest sources of inspiration.
