Pop-A-Lock Owners Share the Keys to Success
Why did you choose to do this business?
We spent almost 20 years working in the corporate and higher education worlds and decided it was time to do something for ourselves. We looked at a variety of business opportunities and were impressed with Pop-A-Lock's commitment to community as well as the company's dedication to provide the most reliable and trustworthy locksmith services.
What contribution to the community are you most proud of?
We are most proud of the company's free Emergency Door Unlocking program branded PAL Saves Kids. We unlock a vehicle at no charge when a child or pet is locked inside. Just call (505) 242-4550 and we will immediately send a trained technician to the rescue. These calls receive the highest priority, and thanks to our advanced dispatch system, we can send the person closest to the need 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In case of emergency, call 911 and then call Pop-A-Lock!
What is your business philosophy?
Dedication and dependability are keys to our success. We want to be in a business that adds value to people's lives. Everyone is going to need a locksmith at some point and we want to make the experience a positive one that solves the customer's immediate needs as well as offering a sense of security going forward with well-trained and professional locksmiths and technicians.
How do you maintain your competitive edge?
Pop-A-Lock locksmiths and technicians receive state-of-the-art training, undergo full background checks and drug tests, remain up-to-date on the latest technology and use the latest and most effective tools to ensure customers receive the best service possible. We operate several trucks loaded with equipment and products and bring services to customers because that's where they need assistance. Whether it is unlocking your car late at night, installing locks in your new home, re-keying your business after an employee with keys left your company or repairing your access control systems, we always provide prompt and professional service. We provide a full range of standard locksmith services like lock repair, making car keys, transponder keys and key cutting as well as a number of specialized services and products—all on location. The ability to meet customers’ needs on time and on site with trustworthy and well trained team members is key to customer satisfaction.
Why did you choose to do business in Albuquerque?
We actually moved here from the Chicago area because we wanted to live and work in Albuquerque. Kathy grew up about three hours from Albuquerque on the high plains, while Greg came from the mountains of Montana. When careers took us to four different states and a foreign country, we knew we needed to have an end destination in mind. The people, climate, geography and lifestyle of Albuquerque met our list of ideal living. When the opportunity to open our own business here popped up, we jumped on it. We are excited to realize our dream of living in Albuquerque and building a business. Our kids grew up mostly in the Midwest and keep saying they just can't believe how nice everyone is here. We will return the hospitality shown to us by being involved in the community and providing excellent locksmith services.
