How did you get started in this business?
After Jessica and I met working at the original Wolfe's location, distant family members decided to explore other business opportunities. It was at that point we took over ownership and operations.
What is your business philosophy?
To produce and deliver an all natural, no-preservative bagel throughout New Mexico and Colorado using only the finest ingredients.
What is your or your company's greatest asset?
Wolfe's Bagels is a local brand with its own recipe and process that has been serving New Mexico and Colorado for over 20 years!
What motivates you to succeed besides the desire to make money?
We are committed to providing continued support to our local community. We derive great pleasure from making people happy with our delicious food and friendly atmosphere.
What significant changes have you implemented recently?
We have overhauled the overall look of our retail location and implemented new procedures for our staff to follow.
What do you offer that the competition doesn't?
Our product is baked fresh daily, and you can find our bagels in most natural grocers throughout Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
What do you think is the biggest obstacle in operating a successful business?
Serving and pleasing the community during tumultuous economic times.
What are your growth goals?
Our shop has served bagels with homemade schmears, bagel egg sandwiches to order and fresh smoked fishes flown in from New York weekly for years; now we've decided to expand our menu to include more kosher-style deli foods. New menu items to come will include homemade chicken soup, meat or potato knishes, chopped liver served with bagel chips, and hot Corned Beef or Pastrami sandwiches which will be offered as a Reuben as well!
What contributions to the community (charitable or otherwise) are you most proud of?
Wolfe's Bagels has been donating bagels daily to schools, churches, and community events since 1992! We never think twice before making any positive contributions to the community!
How has the Internet affected your business and how do you think it might affect your business in the future?
The internet is a key tool for the general public to find out more about what our business has to offer. We want to become even more interactive with our customers through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @WolfesBagels. Follow us and we'll do the same!
In what area of your business do you invest the most energy?
Our main priority is to please our customer!
What words of wisdom would you offer to someone starting their own business?
Be passionate about what you are going to do.
What's your favorite saying or quotation?
“Don't let it bother you; it's just flour and water.”
Do you have a hero or mentor—business or otherwise?
Irv and Harriett Wolf—my parents—have been incredible role models in my life both socially and professionally.
