What was your first job?
I had a brief stint as a waitress in college, but my first real job was as a nanny.
How did you get started in this business?
We were small, silent partners with the previous owner. When he decided to try his hand at another venture, we took up the reigns and have been running ever since.
Why did you choose this business?
This business sort of chose us. My father owned a restaurant when I was a girl, so it was always something I knew a bit about. So when the opportunity to take control arose, Rob and I decided we would make the best of it.
What is your business philosophy?
Service and quality. We strive every day to ensure that our customers receive the best service from our staff and that the food we present is of the utmost quality. This is not something we are willing to compromise on.
What is your or your company's greatest asset?
Our staff and our local community. Every day we see many of the same faces. We enjoy hearing about their lives as they enjoy a meal.
What significant changes have you implemented recently?
We have been focusing recently on getting back to the fundamentals that made Gold Gold Street Caffè a destination restaurant in Downtown. We are updating and improving our menu as well as the interior of the restaurant itself.
What successes are you most proud of accomplishing in the past year?
We have been working really closely with the local non-profit community. We have catered several events for 516 Arts and Tricklock Theatre Company. Participating in Bacon Fest was a blast for us also.
What do you offer that the competition doesn't?
Great food in a unique Downtown setting. That, and the best bacon in town.
How has the internet affected your business, and how do you think it might affect your business in the future?
Websites such as Yelp and Trip Advisor bring people to our doors. It expands the general word of mouth referrals beyond conversations at the office or with friends. We can't help but appreciate the growth we have garnered from the internet.
