What was your first job?
My first real job was with IBM in Dallas, Texas, working as a computer tech.
How did you get started in this business?
Let's see. I sold my home and my Harley, used all the savings I had and—with hope and a prayer—I opened the doors.
Why did you choose this business?
It is something I had always wanted to try.
What is your business philosophy?
I have tried to create a restaurant with a slower pace than the "I want it now" fast-paced world we live in—a place where you can relax, have a great burger and enjoy a good beer. A place where you can bring the whole family and discuss how the day or week went.
What is your or your company's greatest asset?
The greatest asset to any company is its people. I am blessed with having great people working at Spinn's.
Why did you choose to do business in Albuquerque?
I live here, and I saw the need for a Spinn's on the Westside.
What motivates you to succeed besides the desire to make money?
Money is never a good motivator. I like people, and I have always been driven to succeed at anything I take on. It's what makes me tick.
What do you offer that the competition doesn't?
Gourmet burgers, steaks, fresh-cut fries and milkshakes made the old-fashioned way, fresh and made to order.
What do you think is the biggest obstacle in operating a successful business?
Knowing the needs of your customers and putting together ongoing training for your employees to meet those needs.
What are your growth goals?
When this restaurant is fully matured, I would like to open two more in Albuquerque.
What inspires you?
I believe you can do anything your heart desires, if you put your mind to it and make God your partner.
Three passions outside of work?
My one great passion is riding my Harley on long trips. The best trips are the ones you don't plan.
