The Mimbres Region Arts Council is thrilled to announce its extraordinary line-up for Pickamania! 2015, featuring the rollicking and highly danceable Black Lillies headlining Saturday night, and the critically acclaimed, award winning Claire Lynch and her band headlining Sunday.

The Silver City Market Café hosts the Friday night kick off dance from 7- 9 pm in the Café parking lot (corner of Bullard and 7th Sts.), with local favorites the Big Ditch Crickets and newcomers on the local scene, Average Cadaver.

This year’s line-up runs the gamut of Americana music, from the eclectic, genre expanding country artists the Black Lillies, who’ve recently taken Nashville by storm, to the classic yet maverick bluegrass performer, Claire Lynch.  Also on the bill is an eye-popping array of New Mexico talent. We hope you’ll join us once again September 11th-13th for more free music in the beautiful outdoor setting of Gough Park.

Local crooner Amos Torres kicks off the main event on Saturday, followed by fellow Silver City musicians the Gypsy Feet Band. Former Silver City resident Gretta Hunstiger returns with her band The Dead Pigeons for some good ole barn dance-style fiddling. Next up are back to back husband and wife duos Truckstop Honeymoon and returning Pickamania! favorites the Birds of Chicago. Dead Pigeons play in the beer garden Saturday at 8 pm, just after the Black Lillies,

On Sunday the day starts off with New Mexico’s own Compasito, playing their interpretations of the music of South America and Africa, followed by Silver City’s delightful budding local musicians and festival favorites the Fiddling Friends. Sit tight (if you can) for duel banjo pickers The Lowest pair, followed by The Bus Driver Tour, (hailing from Montana and Tennessee). 2013 Female Vocalist of the Year, bluegrass singer/songwriter Claire Lynch and her band will close out the Festival Sunday evening.

Once again festival founding father Bill Bussman of Old Wave Mandolins has donated an extraordinary handcrafted mandolin valued at $2,750 to be raffled in support of the festival. Tickets ($5 each or 11 for $50) and information available online at www.mimbresarts.org/store or at the festival.

Don’t forget to add your talent to the event! Bring your instruments and jam to your heart’s content with fellow musicians at the Lawley UNPLUGGED PICKIN’ TENT, hosted by local musicians and located on Pope St. next to the beer garden.

A diverse group of food and craft/artisan vendors add to the local, handcrafted flavor to the festival.

MRAC is grateful to our local sponsors Lawley Toyota, WNMU, Silver City Sun News, J & J Signs, Silver City Radio, Gila Regional Medical Center, Mountainview Cardiology, the Murray Hotel, Silver City Market Cafe, Seedboat Center for the Arts, Holiday Inn Express, the Copper Manor, Red Barn Steakhouse and the Town of Silver City for helping to keep the Festival FREE!  Additional funding provided by WESTAF, NEA and New Mexico Arts.
