Deeply influenced by her Native heritage and the Southwest landscape, Harjo’s work often explores themes of remembrance and survival.

Award-winning poet Joy Harjo (Mvskoke) will sign books at Shumakolowa Native Arts inside the IPCC. Harjo’s honors include New Mexico Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Native Writers Circle of the Americas; and the William Carlos Williams Award from the Poetry Society of America. Joy Harjo's new book of poems to be released in September is called "Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings." Her books are available in store and online at Shumakolowa.com.
