So Much Culture, So Little Time
How do you manage to fit in a Bollywood dance lesson, a clothing bazaar, tarot and astrology readings, tasting authentic cuisine plus hitting the club all while helping out your community? You go to the annual Bollywood Club Invasion Dance Party (duh), held this year at the Santa Fe Convention Center. Grab your dancing shoes and your best sari, because on Saturday, March 18, there's going to be a party like you've never experienced. With three DJs (Dynamite Sol, Shobanon, Aztech Sol) you can expect to never leave the dance floor. But if you can tear yourself away, you should check out the henna tattoos for your hands or try some food catered by Jambo Cafe, plus what Indian get together would be complete without traditional chai? Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for children, with proceeds going to several local organizations that help house and feed the homeless. (Taylor Grabowsky)

Bollywood Club Invasion, Santa Fe’s best dance party, blasts back for its 9th year, March 18, 6:30 pm ‘til midnight, at the Santa Fe Convention Center. This year’s Bollywood Club Invasion will again feature Bollywood-inspired live DJ mixes, dancing, and vibrant entertainment. Celebrated local favorite DJ Dynamite Sol, along with DJs Shobanon and Aztech Sol, will fill the evening with eastern and western dance rhythms. Agramzu’s multimedia display, featuring Bollywood dance videos, will light the dance floor. A free Bollywood dance class will be offered at 7 pm, and Myra Krien and the Mosaic Dance Company’s Pomegranate Dancers will perform dances throughout the evening.
“This annual Bollywood Club Invasion Dance Party is a cool dynamic for a community event,” said DJ Dynamite Sol. “The whole idea to raise money for people in need that also allows me to rock a party...I’m always down for that. This is one of my favorite events of the year.”
In addition to dancing, a variety of fun and family-friendly activities are available for purchase, including an east-meets-west clothing bazaar, astrology and tarot readings, and hand henna tattoos. There will also be an array of delicious food from award-winning local restaurant, Jambo Cafe, including desserts and traditional Indian chai.
Proceeds will benefit multiple Amma Center of New Mexico local relief initiatives, including The Burrito Project, which offers free meals to more than 108 homeless or needy individuals in Santa Fe every Sunday. Since 1996, over 110,000 lunches have been served. The project also sponsors and prepares meals for St. Elizabeth’s and Casa la Familia shelters.
