Now more than ever is time to help the one another. Meals on Wheels has been serving the local community for over 40 years, beginning with a group of women from local Presbyterian churches. It's grown to be 400 volunteers delivering meals to over 500 people around Albuquerque while catering to special dietary needs and disabilities. The nonprofit receives no state or federal funding so they obviously rely heavily on grants, donations and support from locals like us. Learn more about how you can help feed your neighbors at the weekly volunteer orientation at the Meals on Wheels office every Tuesday at 2pm. If you want to help but are unable to make that time, call the office to arrange an orientation training at a time that suites you! (Megan Reneau)

Serving 500+ meals each weekday, Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque is a private, non-profit program whose goal is to keep people happy, healthy, and living independently. Our volunteer drivers deliver meals directly to people's home, regardless of age, and for any reason. Our meal delivery service program provides not only a well-balanced meal each day, but also provides a wellness check at the same. Last year, 80% of our clients reported that our volunteer drivers were the only people that they saw on a regular basis.
Volunteers typically drive one route a week (10:30 AM - 1:00 PM), in areas including the South Valley, Rio Rancho, and the Northeast. Many of our volunteers have been with us for several years, including some volunteers who have dedicated over 40 years of volunteer service to the organization.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or want to learn more about our meal services, please stop by the Meals on Wheels office at 5901 Harper Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109 for a volunteer orientation. They take place every Tuesday at 2:00 PM, and all are welcome to attend. Alternate orientation times can also be arranged.
