Students use 3D modeling to create a design that helps improve everyday life.
3D modeling and printing are some of the most important tools in the fastest growing STE(A)M fields today. Scientists and designers predict that they will continue expanding into all facets of life. Everyday designers use this technology to create everything from prosthetics for amputees to prototypes for futuristic cars, clothing and even entire houses!
Young designers learn to solve problems using design, prototype their ideas, create digital models using Google SketchUp and 3D print their final product.
This studio will feel like a real design school! Students will create a digital 3D model and a portfolio-quality 3D-printed product. They will then present their projects to a group of designers for feedback on the Saturday following Spring Break. We will print the final designs in our office for this review so that students and parents will have a chance to view a talk about their final projects.
