A mixed repertoire featuring Jessica Lang’s newest piece inspired by Santa Fe artist Georgia O’Keeffe and her series of New Mexico road paintings.
The acclaimed New York-based company founded by dancer/choreographer Jessica Lang will perform a mixed repertoire featuring Lang’s newest piece, “Her Road.” Inspired by Santa Fe artist Georgia O’Keeffe and her series of New Mexico road paintings. “Her Road” premiered in March 2017 at DanceCleveland.
A "visual artist whose medium is dance," choreographer Jessica Lang incorporates striking design elements and transforms classical ballet language to conceive a complete universe, both artfully crafted and emotionally engaging. The Julliard graduate and former member of Twyla Tharp’s company has choreographed works for Hubbard Street 2, ABT II, and Pennsylvania Ballet. She founded a company dedicated to creating and performing her work, Jessica Lang Dance, in 2011.
“Her Road” is the third in Lang’s trilogy of pieces inspired by the life and work of Georgia O’Keeffe. The first, “Her Door to the Sky,” created for Pacific Northwest Ballet, premiered at Jacob’s Pillow in August 2016. The second, “Her Notes,” was created for American Ballet Theatre and premiered in October 2016.
