You are invited to the Albuquerque Area Community Engagement Fair! We are joining the Bees and Seeds festival for our first ever community engagement event. This fair is a social kickoff event that we hope will spark a larger discussion about how we do community engagement in the Albuquerque metro area and raise the profile of this issue.

The event will assemble a diverse group of community members in the same room who would not ordinarily get together. The event will begin building relationships and community capacity to create change on this important issue.

It will be formatted like a “science fair” for community engagement. Individuals and organizations will be given opportunities to present the community engagement work they do and/or what “community engagement” means to them while sharing a beer, meeting new people, and answering the all important question: “red or green?”

It is being hosted by a local group of Albuquerque community members working to improve how government engages the community and how community members engage in governance.

The event is still evolving, and all are welcome to participate. So far the following presenters are confirmed:

* Loretta Naranjo-Lopez - Historic Neighborhood Alliance

* Amanda Bustos - Civilian Police Oversight Agency

* Leila Salim - Transition ABQ

* Bridget Llanes - International District Healthy Communities Coalition

* Terra Reed - CABQ ABC-Z

* Partnership for Community Action

* Rod Mahoney - South Valley Coalition of Neighborhood Associations

* Juan Abeyta - La Red del Rio Abajo

* Julie Stephens - Place Matters New Mexico

* Javier Benavides - Southwest Organizing Project

* Sara Mancini - Office of Neighborhood Coordination

* Kiran Katira - UNM Community Engagement Center

* Julia Mandeville - MiABQ
