When Modern Was Contemporary: Selections from the Roy R. Neuberger Collection

God Bless You, Mr. Neuberger

Roy R. Neuberger was a prominent financier from Connecticut. His skill with money flow, however, isn't remembered today as much as his taste for modern art. In fact, it was more than just a fancy—he was an advocate for contemporary art and invested a lot of his cash into collecting, promoting and showing it. This Saturday, Sept. 30, the Albuquerque Museum of Art is opening the doors on an exhibition of some of Neuberger's collection, which contains—among many others—pieces by Willem de Kooning, Georgia O'Keeffe and Jackson Pollock. The official kickoff—from 1 to 3pm—offers visitors the chance to hear Tracy Fitzpatrick, the exhibition's curator and the director of the Neuberger Museum of Art in New York state, speak on "When Modern Was Contemporary: Selections from the Roy R. Neuberger Collection." Taking in this world class collection comes with a very minimal price tag of $1-$4. (Maggie Grimason)
