Around August 12th, Earth will pass through the densest area of dust and debris left in the path of Comet Swift-Tuttle. An expansive meadow far from city lights may be the perfect place to witness the drama overhead as meteors streak across the sky! Grab your telescopes, camp chairs, and blankets and join a ranger and volunteers in mutual appreciation of the night sky. Learn about meteor showers and other celestial objects and phenomena, practice your night photography, and listen to the night sounds of the Valle Grande. Junior Rangers can earn their Night Explorers patch!

Temperatures will drop once the sun goes down, so bundle up in layers! Bring water and snacks, and please assure flashlights or headlamps have a red lens or red covering to safeguard night vision. As parking is limited, please carpool if possible. Last entry will be 10:30pm with the preserve gates closing at 11:00pm. In the case of poor weather, the event may end early or be canceled.
