Society scion Newland Archer is engaged to May Welland, but his well-ordered life is upset when he meets May's unconventional cousin, the Countess Olenska. At first, Newland becomes a defender of the Countess, whose separation from her abusive husband makes her a social outcast in the restrictive high society of late-19th Century New York, but he finds in her a companion spirit and they fall in love. Innocence Found

The KiMo Theatre’s Pulitzer Prize-Winning Books on Screen series returns as part of the historic venue’s 90th anniversary celebrations. This Sunday, Aug. 27, starting at 2pm, catch Martin Scorsese’s 1993 adaptation of Edith Warton’s The Age of Innocence. The film—starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder—tells the scandalous story of a lawyer who falls in love with a woman separated from her husband in 19th century New York high society. Admission is free. Doors open at 1:30pm. The KiMo is located at 423 Central NW.
