A live performance of dynamic music rooted in the jazz traditions with contemporary themes.

FlyerDrummer, Lorca Hart grew up in a musical family in Taos, New Mexico. He attended the California Institute of the Arts (1992-96) where he studied with Albert "Tootie" Heath, Joe La Barbera, Charlie Haden, Wadada Leo Smith, and many others and has since worked with many of the West Coast's (and beyond) finest artists, including Ralph Moore, Carmen Lundy, Freddie Hubbard, Calvin Keys, Stanley Jordan, Hugh Masekela, Bobby Rodriguez, the Clayton Brothers, storyteller/radio personality Joe Frank, actor/musicians Jeff Goldblum, Peter Weller, Ronald Muldrow, and the Cross Hart Jazz Experience (a project which he co-leads with bass player Ryan Cross), plus many others. Hart released his solo debut CD, Recollections in 2010, which also features his trio mates, Edwin Livingston on bass, and Josh Nelson on piano, who join him for the concert this evening. Their music, rooted in the jazz tradition with a decidedly contemporary bent, has been called "thoughtful, dynamic, & vibrant." Hart teaches drums at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California, as well as teaching ensemble classes at both the Healdsburg High School and Junior High School in Sonoma County, California.
