Música Antigua de Albuquerque’s teaches about the little known facts of the 15th century Europe and performs music with traditional instruments.
What was the term for a map of the world in Europe in the 15th century? What kind of wood was traditionally used in wattle fences and in wattle-and-daub housing in the Middle Ages? A rabardel is an example of which of the following: a) an infectious disease, b) a medieval dance, c) a type of wineglass, or d) part of a knight’s armor?
To learn the answers to these questions and lots of other little-known and fun facts, come to Música Antigua de Albuquerque’s upcoming “Trivial Pursuits” concerts of music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The program will include works from the 13th to the 16th century, grouped in the categories found in the original Trivial Pursuit board game: Geography, Entertainment, History, Arts & Literature, Science & Nature, and Sports & Leisure. Both vocal and instrumental works will be performed, using period instruments such as violas da gamba, vielle, rebec, sackbut, recorders, shawm, cornemuse, bladderpipe, gemshorn, harp, vihuela and lute.
