Italian Treat

The Italian Festivals of New Mexico is sponsoring a special fundraiser film event this Sunday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 4:30pm at the Hiland Theater (4800 Central SE). The film will be the Texan-Italian cult comedy Tiramisu For Two. This one-night-only screening comes just days after the film’s highly anticipated West Coast premiere at the prestigious San Diego Italian Film Festival. Tiramisu For Two tells the story of Giorgio, a peculiar Italian man who travels to Texas in search of a woman he met and then lost 30 years ago in Rome. Giorgio’s epic romantic plans are turned upside-down, however, when he runs into an infamous phony Italian chef who takes him on the ride of his life. The film will be presented in English and Italian with English subtitles. The screening will also feature a pre-film music video and a live Q&A with the film’s writer-director, Sergio Carvajal. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Proceeds will go to benefit the children of NDI-New Mexico. You can reserve tickets by going to italianfilmfest.org. After the film you can take your ticket stub to Scalo Northern Italian Grill (anytime between Oct. 8 and 17) and exchange it for a complimentary tiramisu for two. Nice! The full Italian Film Festival will return March 13 through 17, 2018.
