Albuquerque author, journalist and technical writer Janet Chapman explores the festive 1920s in Santa Fe for a comedic romance.

FlyerNM TECH WRITER DEBUTS SANTA FE-BASED HISTORICAL NOVEL 3:00 PM SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22, AT PAGE ONE

Albuquerque author Janet Chapman, journalist and technical writer, will be at Page One Books 3:00 pm Sunday, October 22, to talk about and sign her first fiction effort, "Madcap Masquerade."

The book is described as such: "The festive 1920s in Santa Fe are the setting for this comic romance. After a slip with the scissors has refashioned her bob, the novel’s 20-year-old heroine, Amanda Williams, embraces the mistake, deciding to check into La Fonda to attend the next day’s Fiesta disguised as a boy. Soon she is entangled in a net of mistaken identities."

Chapman is the co-author of the award-winning biography "Kenneth Milton Chapman: A Life Dedicated to Indian Arts and Artists." The biography has won several awards, including the Evans Biography Award. In writing the story of Chapman's life - an artist and Indian arts expert in Santa Fe during the early 20th century - Janet drew on her background as his grandniece, plus her experience in journalism and U.S. history. She has more than 30 years of experience as a technical writer. She volunteers as a grant writer for nonprofits; and assists each year as a volunteer with the Santa Fe Indian Market. She also gardens, and raises chickens. She lives in Albuquerque.

Page One Books is located at 5850 Eubank Blvd NE, Suite B-41, in Albuquerque's Mountain Run Shopping Center (southeast corner of Eubank and Juan Tabo). The Chapman event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 294-2026 or visit www.page1book.com.
