Four Shillings Short Returns to Jemez
The musical duo Four Shillings Short celebrate the season with music and folklore at a Celtic Winter Concert at the Jemez Fine Art Gallery on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. They performed at the gallery three years ago to a sold-out audience. Tickets are $20; $5 for children age 12 and under.
With music rooted in Celtic and American folk and inspired by Indian Raga and ethnic idioms, the couple has toured the US and Ireland since 1995. Living as the Troubadours of old, they give 150 concerts a year, traveling to music festivals, theaters, performing arts centers, folk and historical societies, libraries, museums and schools. Aodh Og O’Tuama from Cork, Ireland, studied Medieval and Renaissance music in college and received a music fellowship to Stanford University in 1984. His wife Christy Martin was born into a musical family from California. Also a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Christy played the sitar starting at the age of 16 and took up folk music in the '80s. She has played hammered dulcimer since 1993.
