317 Gold SW Suite A
New work by artist Asa Kennedy whose acrylic painting twists familiar muerte images, surreal desert scapes and abstract-shape canvases.
The colors blaze commanding more than a glance, and music by con.col and Russell James Pyle will compliment an evening not to be missed. Show open through November.
Asa was a craft vendor the past three seasons at the downtown Growers Market, selling small-scale paintings. Larger works showed at Slice Parlor, Blackbird Buvette (a 24-foot desert landscape), Java Joeâs and pieces in Peopleâs Art and other group shows at the 5G gallery. Mural work can be found behind the Yarn Store in Nob Hill, on the north side of Silver between Bryn Mawr and Wellesley, and on the south side of Mountain just west of Rio Grande. The Fall Line features acrylic paintings on shaped canvases showcasing surreal desert landscapes, re-appropriated Dia de los Muertos images, and large-scale color-therapy-based 3-D canvases. Soft colors calm images of tension, providing a sense of anticipation; a curious notion of whatâs to come, not only in the partial narrative on the canvas, but also in the artistâs work. Color balance and its frequency are derived sound. The work approaches a transcription of audio frequency and rhythm in a painting with its own sense of movement based on tonal qualities, both complimentary and contrasting, creating a visual vibration/resonation. Attached images maybe printed, but should be credited to Asa Kennedy.
