Summer Thursday Jazz Nights: Will Hanley's Chai House Vigilantes • Cathryn McGill

Drummer Will Hanley was once a respectable musician, a timpanist with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and a professor at UMass who was obsessed with classical music. Now, he lives on a farm in the high desert tending sheep, and he hangs out with blues and jazz musicians. He says it was the angel Gabriel that came to him and clued him in, but whatever the cause, he’s found simpático co-conspirators in vocalist/guitarist David Clausen and bassist Colin Deuble. Annapurna owner Yashoda Naidoo and her partner, David Montgomery, gave them a place to hone their chops, so they call themselves the Chai House Vigilantes. They’ll be joined by special guests, as will the formidable vocalist Cathryn McGill, who completes the evening’s bill, with pianist John Rangel. (Mel Minter)
