SUMMARY:Dust: Stories From the Grants Mineral Belt
DESCRIPTION:Multimedia essay by Sara Schultz.&nbsp\;The exhibit will be on
 display until January 15th\, 2012.&nbsp\;Dust&nbsp\;features people from N
 ew Mexican communities nestled between the wor&nbsp\;ld's largest open-pit
  uranium mine and an enormous pile of toxic silt\, or tailings pile. Both
 toxic sites lay open to New Mexico's powerful winds\, unattended\, and oft
 en unmarked. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 2011 five-year rev
 iew of the Homestake/Barrick Gold mill's abandoned tailings pile states th
 at ambient radon levels at the boundary of the site far exceed what they c
 onsider acceptable or safe. All of Sara's subjects have been negatively af
 fected by the mineral extraction activities in some way.&nbsp\;
