A solo performance about an old woman remembering her life through songs while cooking a pasta dish for a guest. Part of the Revolutions International Theatre Festival.
Sandra Pasini says about the performance, “Italian folk songs have always been a source of inspiration to me because of the way they tell stories about human experience.
“The idea for a sung theatrical piece came to me after I had read Bruce Chatwin’s book Songlines about the Australian Aborigines, which tells of the ritual songs about the Creation and the Dream Time. The woman in this piece retraces the paths of her life through song like the Aborigines found their way when travelling across the vastness of the Australian landscape.
“Later on in the working process I came across the book Beatrice, a collection of interviews with Beatrice Bugelli, an illiterate shepherdess poet, born in Tuscany in 1800. The interviews were conducted with her when she was over eighty years old, not long before her death.”
