Edible Landscapes

Gardeners, Unite!

This week seems to mark some magical point in time for New Mexico's home gardeners. All across Albuquerque and Santa Fe, classes are popping up to help experts and novices alike to gear up for growing season. If your interest is in seeds, then look no further than the Railyard Stewards' Seed Saving class in Santa Fe, to take a look at pollination, population sizes and isolation techniques. For the grow-to-eat gardener, enjoy the Edible Landscapes class at the Gutierrez-Hubbell House which covers garden basics to help choose the best fruits, veggies and herbs to build a beautiful, edible garden in your own yard. Rose enthusiasts can learn the art of pruning at the ABQ Rose Society Free Rose Pruning Demo at the Tony Hillerman Library Garden. And those interested in a more general education can attend Osuna University's free gardening class that covers topics of basic plant care, lawn care, bulbs, landscape design, roses and more.
