Local poets and politicians celebrate National Poetry Month.

Santa Fe poets, politicians, business owners, and students and professors from the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) will celebrate National Poetry Month with free Friday readings at 6 p.m. at IAIA during April. The Santa Fe My Favorite Poem project, directed by award-winning poet and University of New Mexico professor Luci Tapahonso, invites community members to share their favorite works of poetry by other authors. IAIA will co-host the Santa Fe project at the Center for Lifelong Education April 12 and April 26. UNM will co-host local community readers on its campus April 5 and April 19.Poetry readers include Santa Fe Mayor David Coss; Santa Fe County Commissioner Liz Stefanics; Santa Fe Poet Laureate and IAIA Creative Writing Core Faculty Jon Davis; IAIA President Dr. Robert Martin;  Wood-Gormley Elementary student Natalie Valles and more.
