My People are Rising: Memoir of a Black Panther Party Captain

Raising Albuquerque

Aaron Dixon might not be a name familiar to the residents of Albuquerque, but it should be. Dixon is a life-long political activist with a sharper edge than most. As a young man, he marched with Martin Luther King Jr. and helped the campaign that won Lionel Wilson the first mayoral role for a black man in American history. These are achievements above and beyond those of your run-of-the-mill activist. At the age of 19, he began the Seattle chapter of the Black Panthers, a group he stayed with for four years. In 2006 Dixon ran for the U.S. Senate under the green party banner, a role he did not achieve. Dixon has most recently released a memoir of his life. My People Are Rising: Memoir of a Black Panther Party Captain is an in-depth look into the past of this larger-than-life personality. If you are interested in politics or equality for all people, you can’t miss this event. (Christopher J. Johnson)
