Comics À Gogo
Free Comic Book Day, an annual, global event on which an average of 3.3 million comic books are given away, happens Saturday, May 4. The free comics on offer are meant to appeal to all ages and feature titles as diverse as The Smurfs, Superman, Mouse Guard and The Walking Dead. In Albuquerque, Astro-Zombies (3100 Central SE) will feature signings by comic artists Tim Seeley and Aaron Campbell and a massive annual sale on nearly every kind of comics-related item. Even a few Heroes & Heroines will be on hand and—if it’s anything like last year—anticipate standing room only and a most colorful waiting line; think Star Wars meets Star Trek meets the spandex crowd. In Santa Fe, Big Adventure Comics (801 Cerrillos) will be the only participating comic-lover's paradise. (Christopher J. Johnson)
