Experience the colors, traditions and music of historic New Mexico spring to life at this family event.
Visitors may talk with a traditional blacksmith as he works the forge, watch a bread baking demonstration in the adobe horno, and see how generations of New Mexicans spun wool from churro and other sheep. A traditional Arts Mercado will feature well known artists Charlie Carrillo, Oscar and Bernandette Caraveo, Jimmy Trujillo, Jerry Montoya and Robert and Viola Chavez.
Fun performances include Loren Kahn's Puppet Theatre production of Floppo, the Spanish Frog Prince at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and traditional New Mexican music by Frank McCulloch y sus Amigos at 3 p.m.
At Noon and 2 p.m. Ron and Pat Rundstrom and their burros will demonstrate how to pack these hardy critters as the early pioneers and prospectors did. Throughout the day visitors may explore the Museum to see how New Mexican families lived long ago.
The Corrales Historical Society simultaneously hosts free activities at the Old Church across the street from Casa San Ysidro highlighting the Village's agricultural heritage.
