A show about waitresses and garage guys.
Daryl is an experienced director (most recently “The Rainmaker” at The Adobe), actor (“Damn Yankees”) and photographer. He has assembled a dynamic cast of ADOBE regulars and newcomers with actor/musician Paul Hunton (“A Life In The Theater”), Mike Lash, and Ken West as the Pump Boys, and Avery Scott and Tasha Waters (both seen in “Lend Me a Tenor”) as the Cupp sisters running the diner. This “musical tribute to life by the roadside” is perfect Summer fun for the whole family. The accomplished and talented Loretta Robinson returns as musical director/keyboard artist.
The original cast wrote and composed the material as a group. One of them, Debra Monk, has gone on to quite a career: TV fans know her from Grey’s Anatomy and from Law and Order, but she has also appeared in many films and a dozen Broadway shows including “Chicago” and the recent revival of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” “Pump Boys and Dinettes” was nominated for a Tony Award as Best Musical, and received four nominations from the Drama Desk Awards in 1982, played for months in London, and in 2011 was again revived in New York. We are fortunate to have a fine production at minimal prices. (You would pay as much just to park in NYC!)
Let Daryl Streeter and company take you to Highway 57 in N. Carolina for a load of fun, but be aware that ADOBE musicals sell out quickly!
“Pump Boys and Dinettes” by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel and Jim Wann opens Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 25 at the ADOBE Theater with performances Fri. and Sat. at 8 and Sun. at 2.
