11th Annual 'We Art the People!' Folk Art Festival

Some New Age Madness

Giant puppet parade—those three words alone should entice any stragglers to attend this year's annual We Art the People! Folk Art Fest on Sunday, Sept. 8. I mean, honestly, giant puppets waltzing about while hand-made objects are available for purchase, and a giant coloring book project exists, we're sold. But music, man. That's what turns an okay party into an all-out rager. Not saying that this is going to be your typical frat boy, belt-busting soiree. But there's still so much fun to be had, especially with musicians like David Neil Kinkead, an ex-Texan who now resides in Burque, and who has performed with such bands as The Side Effects, Jane, Dragonfly and others. You can also catch Elena Higgins of folk-n-roll duo Indigie Femme as well as Balkan dance party band Goddess of Arno and more. If that doesn't sound overtly new age awesome, then I don't know what does. The event is free and kicks off at 10am. Not a bad way to spend your Sunday. (Mark Lopez)
