The first activity of the year of the Latin American Concert and Speaker Series features Edison Quintana, one of the most renowned and outstanding pianists in the Latin American Music scene.
Uruguayan born, maestro Quintana lives in Mexico since 1976 and performs an average of 120 concerts a year across continents; from the Lincoln Center in New York, to the John Field Center in Dublin, and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He is a recognized pianist, pedagogue and Latin American music champion who has recorded more than a dozen CDs dedicated to the solo piano and chamber music of composers from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru,Chile, Cuba, Uruguay and Venezuela among many others.Quintana is a versatile performer of astonishing musicality and an impeccable technique, his repertoire includes works of the most diverse nature, from classics of all periods, Jazz, Latin American folklore and avant-garde, from solos to ensemble and piano with orchestra; he embraces all the possibilities his instrument offers, resulting in a wonderful palette of voices, colors, intensities and contrasts.
