New wave-alt.pop duo Kisses hails from the City of Angels. The story of Kisses does involve a love story between two comely Angelenos, and it’s that sort of backstory that makes for cutesy web interviews. But the real reason to pay attention to this young band is its music. While debut full-length The Heart of the Nightlife was nothing to sneeze at, their latest, Kids in L.A., finds the twosome truly finding their groove with radio-ready hits like “Huddle” and “The Hardest Part.” Co-produced by Saint Etienne's Pete Wiggs, Kids in L.A. delivers shimmering dance-pop that finds beauty in the mundanity of teenage-dom. See ‘em live at Sister (409 Central NW) on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The 21-and-over dance party revs up at 9pm, and admission is five bucks.
