Satan-worshiper Prince Prospero invites several dozen of the local nobility to his castle for protection against an oncoming plague, the Red Death. Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's famous story.

Prospero orders his guests to attend a masked ball and, amidst a general atmosphere of debauchery and depravity, notices the entry of a mysterious hooded stranger dressed all in red. Believing the figure to be his master, Satan, Prospero is horrified at the revelation of his true identity. 89 min Rated: (Approved) Stars: Vincent Price, Hazel Court, Jane Asher

Pedro + Poe

KiMo Theatre’s “Thursdays With Pedro” series continues this Thursday, Feb. 6, with Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar’s painfully creepy 2011 medical thriller The Skin I Live In. The film, starring Antonio Banderas as a mad scientist who goes waaay too far in his quest for revenge, starts at 7pm. KiMo’s “Friday Fright Nights” also keeps up the scares with the Poe & Price Festival. This week (Feb. 7) Edgar Allan Poe and Vincent Price join forces for the memorable 1964 shocker The Masque of the Red Death. The film, featuring some of the most memorable images of director Roger Corman’s many Poe adaptations, starts at 8pm. Tickets are $5 students/seniors and $7 general admission for either film.
