An exhibition of works by Arts and Design Program students.

Santa Fe, NM Santa Fe Community College’s Visual Arts Gallery presents an exhibition of works by Arts and Design Program students. The exhibition opens with a reception on Thursday, May 8, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Selections from coursework in Architectural Design, Book Arts, Ceramics, Drawing, Fashion Design, Fine Woodworking, Interior Design, Jewelry, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture are on display. Last year’s exhibit showcased more than 200 pieces of original work.   “The creative work of our students is exceptional,” said Clark Baughan, SFCC’s Director of Galleries. “We have dedicated and committed artists in addition to students newly entering arts and design career and academic pathways. Every year brings additional achievements and innovations.”   Awards for the best of show are provided by Artisan’s Santa Fe, Bostick & Sullivan Photography Supply, New Mexico Clay, Santa Fe Jewelers Supply and others. The exhibit will be on display in the Visual Arts Gallery through August 15, 2014.   Awards will be juried by Santa Fe ceramic artist Max Lehman. His work has been regularly featured in National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts sponsored exhibitions. In addition he is represented in numerous public and private collections, notably the Ceramic Research Center at the Arizona State University Art Museum and the Diane and Sandy Besser Collection. He is a graduate of SFCC and is represented by POP Gallery in Santa Fe.   SFCC’s School of Arts, Design, and Media Arts offers comprehensive coursework in fine arts design, media arts, dance, drama and performance. Students can earn associate degrees in Architecture, Fine Arts, Gallery Management, Media Arts, Photography and Professional Crafts as well as professional certificates in Architectural Design, Fashion Design, Fine Woodworking, Gallery Management, Interior Design, Jewelry, Media Arts, Photography and Kitchen and Bath Design.   The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
