Drummer Terri Lyne Carrington, who performed a sold out show at the Lensic in Fall 2013 with the ACS trio (with Esperanza Spalding & Geri Allen) returns with her Grammy winning Mosaic Project which brings together some of the world’s most celebrated female instrumentalists and vocalists. Cross generational, cross cultural, and even cross genre, The Mosaic Project is a celebration of female artists coming together to support and celebrate each other from a musical and social perspective. Terri Lynne Carrington has been at the top of the music industry for almost 25 years, collaborating with luminaries like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Al Jarreau, Stan Getz, and numerous others. Known for her genre-defying jazz-R&B-Gospel singing and songwriting, Lizz Wright has consistently topped jazz charts and received nonstop critical acclaim ever since her 2003 debut on Verve Records. Jazz vocalist, Gretchen Parlato has been turning heads since winning the Thelonious Monk Institute International Vocal Competition in 2004. Recognized for her sultry, intriguing voice and unique, rhythmically agile phrasing, she is a sought after clinician on vocal styling and tours worldwide to sold out audiences. Saxophonist, Tia Fuller, who is a member of the all-female band touring with Beyoncé, is not only an accomplished alto and soprano saxophonist and flutist, but also a savvy bandleader, composer, and arranger with a reputation as one of the most important new instrumentalists in jazz. 22-year old Korean American singer-songwriter-saxophonist-composer. Grace Kelly is the youngest ever to be named Downbeat Critics Poll “Alto Saxophone Rising Star.” She has performed worldwide and and recorded or performed with artists as diverse as Phil Woods, Frank Morgan, Huey Lewis, Harry Connick Jr, Dave Brubeck, Gloria Estefan, Esperanza Spalding, and Wynton Marsalis. Pianist/keyboardist Rachel Z (Rachel Nicolazzo) became one of the top female performers in contemporary mainstream jazz in the late 1990s, playing with the classic fusion band, Steps Ahead, as well as with a collaborative project with Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. Her collaboration with saxophone legend Wayne Shorter, on his 1995 High Life CD, for which she orchestrated his compositions and added her own synthesizer and piano work earned a Grammy award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album. Guitarist Matthew Stevens has been applauded in publications worldwide and has performed and recorded with some of contemporary music’s finest musicians. Bassist, Josh Hari, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, is currently a member of the Roots band, The Boston Boys, with whom he has been recording and touring worldwide since 2012.
