Some events billed as "festivals" turn out to be a smattering of people sitting at booths, staid background music and lemonade. Not ArrBiZZaar 2.0. Expect six glorious hours of music, poetry, locally-sourced food, herbalists and artists in summery, cross-pollination frenzy.
Robert Hoberg, local foodist, artist and a man with a propensity for subversion of many things (including proper English spelling), is the organizer of this quarterly festival under the aegis of his Permalove Collective, a network of community-minded people dedicated to re-imagining economic and creative collaboration and exchange.
Vendors include the Boiler Monkey, La Abeja Herbs and Shabeta's Healing Garden. The eclectic music line-up includes Zenova, First Love, Father of the Flood, Blissbot and Dead Gunz. It's all happening in the Fringecrest neighborhood, Saturday, July 13, 5 to 11p.m., on the patios of The Source (1111 Carlisle SE). Bring ideas, kids, garden surplus to exchange, flower cuts for an eco-art mandala and $3-$13 for admission (sliding scale). It’s all about expanding the circle. (Gail Guengerich)
