Best Tradition

The Carnuel [Road] Parade every fall. It was started by the Sawmill Land Trust in cooperation with the Harwood Art Center. It celebrates what used to be a march down from the mountains starting at Carnuel.

The VSA North Fourth Arts Center black box theater. The space―which is fairly small but well-equipped with great seats―is hard to separate from the excellent ongoing art events they have there, like the Global DanceFest.

Pfeifer Studio. They've got wonderful gifts, jewelry, accessories and tableware from around the world.

Best Art Gallery

In Old Town, the co-op Yucca Art Gallery, where local artists display their work and also work in the gallery. ... The other place I really give a tip-of-the-hat and a wag-of-the-finger to is Factory on 5th. They really deserve recognition for the creativity, initiative and daring that owner Jerry Miller has shown.

Best Bakery

Golden Crown Panadería, for its family origins and trueness to our local traditions. Where else can you get pan dulce on the Day of the Dead?
