Drinks

Best Brewery

Marble Brewery

Local darling, Marble Brewery wins this category. People flock to the three locations, regularly. Is it the beer? Events? The laid-back atmosphere? It's all three and more. (TG)

3) La Cumbre Brewing Company

Best Winery

St. Clair Winery & Bistro

A local favorite since 1984, St. Clair has been making wine in Deming for generations. The addition of bistros in Albuquerque, Farmington and Las Cruces means you can pair their delicious whites, reds, blushes and specialty wines (yes, there’s a green chile wine) with everything from mac and cheese bites to chicken parmesan to fish and chips. Best Local Beer

Tie: Marble Double White/La Cumbre Elevated IPA

Sometimes it’s hard to choose. On the one hand, Marble’s hefeweizen, easy with flavors of orange and spice is the kind of beer you can drink all summer. On the other hand, La Cumbre’s Elevated India Pale Ale is the kind of sharp, hoppy, wake-you-up kind of quaff you can be lifelong friends with. Heck, we live in New Mexico and can drink both equally. Best Distillery

Broken Trail Brewery & Distillery

Between their distillery on Stanford (which offers a popular Bloody Mary brunch) and their tasting room at the Green Jeans Farmery (where you can sample Holy Ghost Vodka and Horsethief Rum, among others), Broken Trail has captured the spirit of New Mexico. And if you’re serious about it, Broken Trail will let you design, ferment and distill your own personal whiskey in five liter barrels. (DO’L)

Best Local Cider

Tractor Brewing Co.

Wait a second: Are we talking the Dry Hard Cider, the Delicious Red Apple Cider, the Blood Orange Cider, the Cascara Cider (made from the dried skins of coffee cherries)? Damn. Tractor has a tasty selection of fruit-based ciders. We think we’re going to have to sample them all before crowning a best of the best. (DO’L)

Best Cocktails

Sister Bar

Sister’s rotating menu of seasonal cocktails contains such not-so-hidden delights as the El Chapo (a spicy hibiscus Margarita). Among the “brunch cocktails” is the Ho Chi Minh Coffee (featuring Deep Space Coffee cold brew, condensed sweetened coconut milk and bourbon). Sounds like we’re covered, day and night. (DO’L)
