Ski Lift Cinema—If you're a hardcore, mountain-thrashing, extreme winter sports enthusiast, then the name Warren Miller should ring a few bells. This weekend, Jeep and REI Sports will present Warren Miller's latest ski/snowboard opus Higher Ground. The documentary will play Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, at the KiMo Theater. Show starts at 7 p.m. both nights. There will be displays in the KiMo lobby from regional ski areas just to whet your appetite. Tickets are $10 and are available at Ticketmaster, the KiMo box office and REI.

Dance on Film—Two cutting edge films from New York's Dance on Camera Festival will be presented this Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Readymade Dance Theater (4011 Silver SE). Cost of Living is a carnival-like extravaganza featuring London's DV8 Physical Theatre group (described once as “the Sex Pistols of Dance”). Shadow Pleasure, meanwhile, is written by acclaimed author Michael Ondaatje and directed by Emmy Award-winner Victoria Tennant. This film fuses dance, music and spoken word into an award-winning spectacle of “artistic eroticism.” Tickets are $7 general admission and $5 students/seniors. The screening begins at 8 p.m.

Movie Math Quiz

This week's “Quiz Issue” movie quiz covers the subject of mathematics. You must figure out the movie-related numbers contained in the following sets of parentheses to come up with a total. Send that final sum on a postcard to: “Movie Math Quiz, Weekly Alibi, 2118 Central SE, PMB 151, Albuquerque, NM 87106.” One grand prize winner will be chosen at random from all the correct entries. Grand prize includes: Two tickets to the Guild Cinema, a $20 gift certificate to Louie's Rock-N-Reels and a Club Membership to Burning Paradise Video.

Solve the Following Equation: (The total number of Rocky films—not including Stallone's newly proposed sequel) x (the total number of Halloween films—not including Halloween: Retribution, which will be released sometime next year) ÷ (the total number of Friday the 13th films--not including Freddy vs. Jason, which is more of a spin-off) + (the no-longer-futuristic year in which Keir Dullea encountered psychedelic space aliens) + (the historic year in which John Belushi battled the Japanese) x (the cinematic year in which Robert De Niro joined forces with Bernardo Bertolucci to fight fascism) ÷ (Bo Derek's “perfect” movie designation) + (the number of weeks Mickey Rourke spent fooling around with Kim Basinger) - (the title of Federico Fellini's semi-autobiographical pic—which just happened to be the number of films he had directed up until that point).
