Defective Auditions--Defective Man, a new comedy feature by Albuquerque writer/director D. Ryan Mowry, will be shooting in and around Albuquerque in May. SB-Films, the company behind the campy superhero parody, is holding a one-day audition for the film at the Guild Cinema (3405 Central NE) on Thursday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The film is a low-budget independent production, so there will be no pay involved. Muse Needs Films--Gaia’s Muse is a new monthly film series that will take place at the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill. The purpose of Gaia’s Muse is to showcase local and international short films with an uplifitng message. Organizers hope to highlight films of any subject matter that inspire the mind and heart. There is no submission deadline, as the series will be ongoing. However, the first screening will take place on April 22. All films should be 60 minutes or less, on DVD format and accompanied by a $5 submission fee. Filmmakers should also submit a short synopsis of the film, full contact information (phone and/or e-mail), along with any other press/marketing materials they’d like. Wanted: Shadowy Androgynes--The Eye, a remake of the hit Taiwanese horror film, will soon be shooting in Albuquerque with Jessica Alba in the lead role. Producers are looking for people to play “Shadowy Figures.” They want androgynous, slender, younger (20-40) males and females of any ethnicity. There are no lines, but actors will be trained in movement; dancers a plus. You must be willing to shave/wax your entire body and head (bald). This involves partial nudity (i.e., nude-style bodysuit) and you may be flown to Los Angeles to have prosthetic fittings special-made to cover body parts. Pay is $700+ per day or $2,500+ per week for selected principal SAG roles. Interested? Who wouldn’t be?
