Week in Sloth

The Week in Sloth

Thursday 20

“NCAA Basketball Championship” (KRQE-13 5 p.m.) The first round has started. Basketball fans are ordered to report to the nearest sports bar for a marathon of regional rivalry and hot wings.

“I Know My Kid’s a Star” (VH1 8 p.m.) Former child star, current freakazoid, Danny Bonaduce hosts this reality show competition for kids. ... Might as well crush those egos early.

Friday 21

“That Mitchell and Webb Look” (BBC America, 7:20 p.m.) Comedians David Mitchell and Robert Webb (best known for their work on “Peep Show”) gift us with another season of their sketch comedy show.

“Upright Citizens Brigade: Asssscat” (Comedy Central 11 p.m.) The members of Upright Citizens Brigade (Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh among them) bust loose with some edgy new improv shenanigans (marking one of those rare occasions when “edgy” and “shenanigans” can be used in the same sentence).

Saturday 22

“Titans of Taste” (Food Network 4 p.m.) Get to know your fast-food kings with this new documentary series exploring the private lives of people like McDonald’s man Ray Kroc and Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas. ... Too bad they’re all dead. This would have been a much cooler show if Col. Sanders and Orville Redenbacher had been forced to fight to the death in a greasy arena armed only with sporks for the title “Titan of Taste.”

The Ten Commandments (KOAT-7 6 p.m.) Every year like clockwork.

Rock Monster (Sci-Fi 7 p.m.) Sadly, not a biopic about Gene Simmons, but a lame fantasy movie about a monster. Made of rock.

Sunday 23

Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie (Cartoon Network 10 a.m.) How come Easter doesn’t rate as many secular movies and TV specials as Christmas? All we’ve got to offer today is this 2005 animated film featuring the voices of Tom Kenny, Dave Koechner, Christopher Lloyd and Roger Moore. ... Roger Moore?

Futurama: Bender’s Big Score (Comedy Central 9 p.m.) If you missed it on DVD, here’s your chance to redress that wrong and catch the new animated “Futurama” feature film. It almost makes up for having canceled this show in the first place. Almost.

Monday 24

“Greek” (ABC Family 6 p.m.) The semi-raunchy (well, for ABC Family, anyway), college-bound sitcom returns for its first season spring premiere.

Tuesday 25

Autism: The Musical (HBO 9 p.m.) It’s described as “uplifting” and “inspiring,” but I’m mostly interested because it sounds weird. This documentary follows the quest of one Los Angeles woman to help autistic children defy expectation by writing and performing their own stage musical.

Wednesday 26

“Deep Fried Paradise” (Travel Channel 7 p.m.) Pickles, turkeys, Twinkies--basically anything that can be hand-held, drenched in batter and then deep fried. ... Throw in a hammock and a couple of comely native gals in sarongs, and you’ve painted my idea of paradise, buddy.
