After years of helping secure solid union jobs for locals in the film industry, the New Mexico Film Office is finally starting a mentorship program for “above-the-line” talent. This new program is made possible by New Mexico’s Job Training Incentive Program for Film and Multimedia. The mentorship program is open to New Mexico residents 18-and-older who wish to advance their film careers by shadowing professional above-the-line or specialty talent on major productions. Mentorship is available for the following positions: director, producer, writer, editor, production designer, line producer, unit production manager, production supervisor, script supervisor, casting director, storyboard artist and sound looping. The pilot program will take place on a major television series shooting in Albuquerque from June through November 2008. If you’re willing to commit for a minimum of 20 days up to a maximum of 60 days, this might be a great opportunity for you. Application deadline is Monday, June 2, at 5 p.m. Applications can be found at www.nmfilm.com. If you have any questions, contact the film office at (505) 476-5600.
