The Week in Sloth
“Kath & Kim” (KOB-4 7:30 p.m.) Molly Shannon and Selma Blair star in this remake of a popular Aussie sitcom about a mother and her newly divorced daughter.
“SNL Weekend Update Thursday” (KOB-4 8:30 p.m.) Bursting at the seams with political jokiness thanks to the impending presidential election, “Saturday Night Live” expands its “Weekend Update” news sketch into a half-hour Thursday-night slot for the next few weeks.
“Eleventh Hour” (KRQE-13 9 p.m.) We’re already full-up with weird science detectives this season, but we like Rufus Sewell (Dark City), so we’ll cut him some slack.
“Life on Mars” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) Yup, it’s another TV remake. The fall season is lousy with them. This popular British show about a modern-day cop mysteriously transported back to the funk-filled ’70s at least gets an impressive stateside cast (including Jason O’Mara, Harvey Keitel, Gretchen Mol, Michael Imperioli and Lisa Bonet).
“Testees” (FX 11:30 p.m.) As soon as you’re done laughing at the title (huh-huh, you said testes), please note that this new sitcom about medical guinea pigs is the brainchild of Canadian Kenny Hotz, late of “Kenny vs. Spenny” fame.
“The Starter Wife” (USA 7 p.m.) What looked like a miniseries last season gets expanded to a weekly series, giving Debra Messing something to do.
“Macy’s Passport Celebrity Catwalk Challenge” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) Celebrities like Jerry Springer, Nancy O’Dell, Bob Harper, Kate Flannery and Leyla Milani (jeez, that went south quick) try their hand at being fashion models in this lame reality show competition.
“2008 FOX Reality Channel Really Awards” (Fox Reality Channel 8 p.m.) Because shows like “Macy’s Passport Celebrity Catwalk Challenge” deserve awards.
“Gimme My Reality Show!” (Fox Reality Channel 11 p.m.) So ... it’s a reality show designed to find the next person to star in a reality show. Wow, that makes my brain hurt.
“My Own Worst Enemy” (KOB-4 9 p.m.) Christian Slater stars in this new weekly thriller about a spy with a split personality who can go from highly trained killer to suburban family man at the flip of a switch.
“Eli Stone” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) In an attempt to sex up the second season, producers have brought on a bevy of guest stars, including Katie Holmes and Sigourney Weaver.
“Sex Change Hospital” (WE midnight) Wait. Does the title apply to the sort of operations performed at the hospital in question or to the kind of doctors employed therein? ... Cause if it’s the latter, I’m so there.
“Presidential Debate” (KASA-
“Project Runway” (Bravo 7 p.m.) We may not know who the next President of the United States is, but tonight we’ll know who’s the next winner of “Project Runway.”
