Week in Sloth

The Week in Sloth

Thursday 8

“Big Brother” (KRQE-13 7 p.m.) Nothing says “It’s summertime, I don’t care what I watch” like the return of “Big Brother.”

Friday 9

“Haven” (Syfy 8 p.m.) If you like hanging out in “Eureka” (which has its fourth season debut right before this), you’ll probably like Syfy’s newest weird small-town location, “Haven.” This sci-fi thriller is based on the novel The Colorado Kid by Stephen King. Instead of a town full of mad scientists, it’s got a town full of supernatural beings.

Saturday 10

“The Bridge” (KRQE-13 8 p.m.) CBS sneaks a Canadian cop show over the border to see how it performs in the summertime. Damn immigrants!

Sunday 11

“Inside Secret Government Warehouses: Shocking Revelations” (Syfy 7 p.m.) Look, 500 cases of “Re-Elect Jimmy Carter” buttons. Shocking!

“Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch” (VH1 7 p.m.) Yes, you are correct: It’s a reality dating show starring footballer Chad Ochocinco. ... Sorry.

“Jimmy Buffett & Friends: Live From the Gulf Coast” (CMT 8 p.m.) Well, that pesky hurricane last week kinda scotched the first attempt at this benefit concert. So Buffett and a bunch of loyal Parrotheads try again.

“The Glades” (A&E 8 p.m.) A brilliant Chicago detective (Australian Matt Passmore) finds himself stuck solving crimes in rural Florida.

“The Bakery Bunch” (TLC 8 p.m.) The only thing TLC loves more than people who breed too much is people who bake cakes. Here, we get both. If only they were little people, it would be a hat trick. Try harder next time, TLC.

“Kid in a Candy Store” (Food 8:30 p.m.) “The Next Food Network Star” loser Adam Gertler gets his own show anyway. In it, he eats a bunch of candy and dessert. Hardly seems fair, doesn’t it?

“Children’s Hospital” (Cartoon Network 11:30 p.m.) Comedian Rob Corddry’s Webby Award-winning parody of medical melodramas makes the leap from the Internet to CN’s Adult Swim programming block. The original five-minute episodes will run until Aug. 22, at which point they will be replaced by 12 brand-new made-for-TV episodes.

Monday 12

“Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc.” (Cartoon Network 8 p.m.) This brand-new, 11th incarnation of “Scooby-Doo” features a slightly more anime-inspired look, some surprising romance and Matthew Lillard (from the live-action films) as the voice of Shaggy.

“Rizzoli & Isles” (TNT 8 p.m.) Think “Cagney & Lacey,” only with more close-ups of dead bodies.

Tuesday 13

“Covert Affairs” (USA 8 p.m.) Piper Parabo (Coyote Ugly) is a CIA trainee caught in a vast government conspiracy. I hate it when that happens.

Wednesday 14

“Breakfast Special” (KNME-5 7 p.m.) Host Rick Sebak visits “unusual breakfast spots” across the U.S.

“The 2010 ESPY Awards” (ESPN 7 p.m.) There’s nothing like watching football players and basketball players try to cram themselves into suits.
